- Master of Divinities, St. John Provincial Seminary
Father Savickas was ordained a priest December 6, 1974, and all of his priestly assignments have been at parishes with schools. He served as an active member of the Archdiocesan “Catholic Schools in the Future Committee” from 2007 through 2010, and then on the “Catholic School Advisory Board” from 2010 through 2013.
Assigned as pastor to St. William Parish in Walled Lake since 1985, he has striven to incorporate their school program as an intrinsic element of the parish. He strongly endorses the Archbishop’s statement in Unleash the Gospel that, “Catholic Schools are an apostolate that is the responsibility of all parishes and all Christ’s faithful.” St. William School is recognized in the Archdiocese for its leadership in creating a program to serve children with special needs. Also, it is the first school in this Archdiocese to establish an Administrative Oversight Board, a concept which is hoped to aid schools that are struggling with changing demographics and declining enrollment. Fr. Savickas is excited that, with the aid of this dedicated group, the decision has been made to expand the school to include programs for 3 and 4-year-old children. Above all, he recognizes that the mission of all Catholic Schools is to help our children encounter Christ and to be nurtured as disciples, while striving for academic excellence.
